Director’s Statement
I have known poker for many years. I have played in shiny casinos, shady clubs and private houses. In all these different settings, one thing remained consistant and therefore caught my attention : the absence of women in the field of players, and the often toxic dynamic between male gamblers and young waitresses. So I wrote, studied and observed, and from this unique point of view came the idea for Billie : a stylish revenge story focused on a female lead character, set in the complexe world of poker where, usually, only men get to shine...
